Make it easy for customers to find the information they need on your websites with flexible search capabilities that provide relevant results. Use Smart Search in Kentico Xperience.

Smart Search retrieves the appropriate data from the database and stores it in an index file using an easily searchable format. Indexes are automatically updated whenever the corresponding website content changes. You can also enable search within files and attachments such as .PDF, .doc, .xls, and more.

Choose Azure Search.

Connect your website content with the Azure Search service. Scale up and down as needed, no matter how quickly or slowly your site expands. Add artificial intelligence to returned results by leveraging the language-learning capabilities and improve accuracy with every search query. 

Implement faceted search.

Let customers filter search results according to different facets, such as page categories, authors, date range, and product availability. Display how many items fall into each category and provide multiple filters enabling customers to access relevant products and information.

Return search results quickly.

Searches are performed on index files, making searching scalable even for very large volumes of data. Results are returned significantly faster than when using serial searches directly through the database. 

Have full control over your search capabilities.

Control the content of every search index. Specify which pages (documents) from your website should be included in an index and which should be ignored. Assign permissions to the search functionality to secure data from sections that are not to be displayed in results for unauthorized users.

Make it easier for customers with predictive search.

Display search results as visitors' type search expressions. Let them navigate immediately to relevant content based on their keywords without having to go to a dedicated search page. 

Be typo-tolerant.

Return results to visitors that are only approximate matches. Typo-tolerant searching allows visitors to obtain correct results even if there are misspelled words in the search expression.

Leverage stemming.

Remove another potential search blocker for your customers by removing suffixes from words, otherwise known as stemming. If you create your search indexes using stemming analyzers, the search matches words that have the same basic meaning, but different inflection. 

Enable synonym search.

Let visitors search for synonyms of words in the search query by enabling "Any word or synonyms" search mode. Expand all words in the search expression into a list of synonyms to provide a wider set of results. 

Customize your search.

Select which object data fields should be searchable and define the exact format and layout of search results. Integrate with other external indexing or search services or use a custom-written search provider.
